Baby Bookworms!
Summer programs will be held the 2nd and 4th Friday June through Aug. Lapsits consist of music, stories and rhymes especially chosen to build the bond between you and your child. Please meet in YS program room 9:30: Prewalkers, 10:30 Walkers. Programs will be held Aug. 8th & 22nd only.
Catch the Reading Bug! Summer Reading Program
What a great summer at the library! Our bug jar is full of reading bugs! Congratulations to those who kept reading all summer, and to the winners of our Create-a-Bug contest! For more fun reading, don't forget our regular preschool storytimes will begin August. 27th & 28th.
Teen Scene
"Breaking Dawn" book club for girls will have its final session on Aug. 14th at 6:30 p.m. in the Youth Services program room. Discussion will focus on this last book in the popular Stephanie Myers' Twilight series. Please call 729-4554 for more information. More Summer Delight!
Youth Services will present a Monet display from Teacher's Discovery Traveling Exhibits Claude Monet, French Impressionist painter, is well known for his water lily pond and Japanese bridge paintings inspired by his gardens at home at Giverny. Enjoy some of Monet's magnificent paintings on a grand scale Aug. 4th through Aug. 22nd. Visit YS anytime during normal library hours and sign our viewing guest book.
Raising Readers-Preschool Storytime
Inspire your future reader at our preschool storytime. Join us for exciting stories selected just for children ages 3-5 years old. Programs will be held in Youth Services Wednesday and Thursday s at 10:30 a.m. Aug. 27th & 28th; "Turtle Time"
Knitting and Crochet Circle
Meets the 2nd and last Monday of each month in the library. Beginning and advanced are welcome. Monday, August 11 and Monday, August 25 from 10am - 12:00 noon. Please call 729-4090 if you would like to attend or if you have any questions.
Writer's Workshop with Anne Holt ~ Sponsored by the Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library invite you to attend "Polishing Your Writing for Publication" workshop with author Anne Haw Holt. Ms. Holt is a full-time author and serves as President for Tallahassee Writers Association. She is a member of the "Art in the Court" Committee of the Florida Supreme Court. She is also an active member of The Western Writers of America Association and a member of Women Writing the West and ALAN. She writes under A. H. Holt and her book titles include Silver Creek, Kendrick, Blanco Sol, and Riding Fence. After the lecture and question & answer portion of the program, Ms. Holt will accept writing samples to read and comment on. The writing samples should be five pages, double spaced, any genre.
